“Turn Up the Volume on Ovarian Cancer” walk was first held in 2010. Started in memory of Glenda Hooper/Macut by her 4 daughter’s, grand-daughter’s and close friends, after losing her to Ovarian Cancer in 2005.
Working under the umbrella and support of the Sandy Rollmen Ovarian Cancer Foundation out of Philadelphia. The first year the weather did not cooperate and still 300 walkers showed up to support our event. Over the years our walk varied in size and the volunteers have grown, all to ensure that the walk would be a success.
HACC by donating the venue & Pinnacle Health and all of our other sponsors and of course the walker/runners make our event the success it has been.
What had started out in memory of our mother has turned out to a be a very important event in the lives of a lot of other people. Some supporting survivors, others like us are there in memory of their loved ones.
To all who have supported “Turn Up the Volume on Ovarian Cancer” Walk/Run over the years:
The walk total as of the 2016 Walk is $121,324.54
